Go Vols! Football Nails

Tonight is when the first game is played. And Tennessee plays tomorrow. So, I figured I would go ahead and get my nails ready!

Orly- Mermaid Tale

I picked this up at Sally Beauty Supply on clearance the other day. Love the blue/green hexi holos in it and the tiny green glitter. It's so pretty. The formula is very saturated with holo and glitter. I applied two coats anyway.

Here is where I swatched Mermaid Tale over white.

And over black, which is the one I picked for this mani.

Definitely glad I chose to get this polish. Now I wish I had gotten the purple one they had as well!

Football Season is almost here!

My husband and I are ready for football season to start this weekend! So, to get in the mood, I thought I would play around with some polishes. Here are just a few of the ideas I had.
I used black, orange, green, white, and a brown color I made using clear polish and a few different brown eyeshadows.

Have you done a mani to get in welcome football season?
Have you ever made an awesome franken polish from old polishes?

Orly-Mysterious Curse

I really love this color. Mysterious Curse shifts from purple to blue. The formula was a little thin, so it took about 3 coats. I topped it with Seche Vite, of course.

It's Almost Football Time

We are gearing up for football season around here. We are huge Tennessee Volunteers fans. So, when I asked my husband what color I should paint my nails, he said Orange. Ok, I have about 10 different oranges. He managed to pick two, and I picked the glitter.
Here we have:
L.A. Colors Sassy Sparkle
Pure Ice Hot Tamale
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Sun Kissed
(Not pictured is a bright white for the base color and Seche Vite topcoat.)

Since my husband picked two different oranges (one is a light creamy color and the other is a darker shimmer), I didn't want to just do a version of a French or anything like that. I also didn't want to just completely mix the colors together.

What I ended up doing was:
-Base white color. Two coats.
-Sponged on the Sally Hanses orange. Not too light and not too much. Make blotches, leaving some white.
-Sponged on the Pure Ice orange. You want to cover up any white and try not to completely cover the first orange.
-I then went back and alternated with a bit of both colors to cover any white spots I had missed and to make sure none had more of one color than the other. I was going for an orange spongy marbley blend of colors.
-Next was 2 coats of Sassy Sparkle.
-Topped it all off with a coat of Seche Vite.

I really love this. I can't get over how awesome it looks in person. I keep looking down at them because they are just so shiny. This is definitely a mani I will do again, especially during football season. ~Go Vols!~

Ulta Ultra Violet Femme

This is one of the polishes I picked up at Ulta this past weekend. It is a gorgeous purple with blue tones.
Indirect sunlight:
Here I applied E.L.F. Matte topcoat over Ultra Violet Femme.
It's hard to photograph a purple that has a lot of blue in it. But, this crappy indoor lighting managed to show the purple.

New Ulta Polishes and Seche Vite

We went out of town this past weekend. My mother and I ended up going shopping at Ulta. I picked up a few polishes and my very first bottle of Seche Vite. I'm already loving the SV.

Blues Cruise, Ultra Violet Femme, & SV.
Ultra Violet Femme swatch. I love this deep chrome-y purple. It was hard to get a decent photo...in every one, it looked more blue, but it really is an awesome purple color.
This is Blue Cruise over Ultra Violet Femme with an SV topcoat. This is so shiny and shimmery and I love it. I keep stopping to look at them.
Here are more photos in various lighting:

L.A. Colors Funky French Mani

For this mani I used only L.A. Colors that I purchased from the Dollar Tree.
- 3 coats of Nuclear Energy (purple)
- 2 coats of Sassy Sparkle (glitter)
- Let everything dry really well.
- Apply tape, leaving tips exposed. (I used some of my husband's electrical tape to tape off the tip.)
- 1-2 coats of Live (silver). Remove the tape asap.
- Add a topcoat and you're finished!

L.A. Colors #563 Nuclear Energy

This is a neon purple. It is sheer and took 3-4 coats to get opaque. It is a bit darker than the photos show. I'm thinking of using silver over it. Just not sure what I want to do yet.
